Terms of Service

The ground rules for using ShredPlanner. The short version: be kind, ski safely, and remember that we're a small project doing our best to give you good information.

Last updated: April 10, 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using ShredPlanner ("the site," "we," "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. These terms apply to everyone who visits ShredPlanner, whether you create an account or not.

2. What ShredPlanner is

ShredPlanner is an independent tool that helps skiers and snowboarders plan their day at Steamboat Resort and other mountains. We provide route planning, trail information, dining recommendations, news aggregation, and budget tools. We are not affiliated with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation, Alterra Mountain Company, OpenStreetMap, Mapbox, or any other party we link to or reference.

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you sign in with Google, that means following Google's account security practices.
  • You're responsible for everything that happens under your account.
  • If you suspect unauthorized access, email contact@shredplanner.com right away.

4. Acceptable use

When using ShredPlanner, please don't:

  • Post content that's harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory, or sexually explicit.
  • Post content that's spam, advertising, or unrelated to skiing/snowboarding.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.
  • Try to break, scrape, or overload the site, or interfere with other users' access.
  • Use the site to violate any law or regulation.

We moderate public comments before they appear and may remove anything that violates these rules. Repeated violations may result in account suspension or removal.

5. Your content

Trail notes, comments, congestion votes, route plans, and budget plans you create are your content. You keep ownership.

By submitting public content (e.g., a public trail note), you grant ShredPlanner a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content on the site to other users. Private notes are not displayed to anyone but you.

You can edit or delete your own content at any time from your account. Deleting your account removes your personal data and your private content; public comments may remain on the site in anonymized form to preserve thread context, unless you ask us to fully remove them.

6. Ski safely — accuracy disclaimer

Read this one carefully. ShredPlanner provides planning information, not real-time conditions or safety guidance.

  • Trail data, lift status, difficulty ratings, and route suggestions may be outdated, incomplete, or wrong.
  • We do not have live data on grooming, snow conditions, closures, weather, avalanche risk, or trail openings.
  • Always check the resort's official trail report and follow on-mountain signage and ski patrol instructions.
  • Know your ability level. A trail rated "blue" on ShredPlanner may ski very differently in icy or powder conditions.
  • Skiing and snowboarding involve inherent risks, including serious injury and death. You assume those risks when you go out on the mountain.

ShredPlanner is for planning and entertainment only. Use your judgment, ski within your ability, and stay safe.

7. Intellectual property

The ShredPlanner name, logo, original written content, and software are © ShredPlanner. Trail and lift geometry data is sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License. Map tiles are provided by Mapbox under their terms. Resort names, lift names, and trail names are the property of their respective operators and are used here for descriptive purposes only.

8. No warranty

ShredPlanner is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the site will be available, error-free, accurate, up-to-date, secure, or fit for any particular purpose. You use it at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, ShredPlanner and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site — including but not limited to any decisions you make based on information you find here, or any injuries or losses that occur on the mountain.

10. Termination

You can stop using ShredPlanner at any time and request that we delete your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without notice when necessary. After termination, the disclaimers and liability limitations above continue to apply.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. For material changes, we'll notify signed-in users by email or with a banner on the site. Continuing to use ShredPlanner after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Colorado.
